10 of the best overhead kick goals in history as Alejandro Garnacho scores arguably the greatest of all time

Alejandro Garnacho produced quite a strike to fire home his first Premier League goal of the season for Manchester United.

The 19-year-old broke the deadlock at Goodison Park inside just three minutes with an outrageous overhead kick which gave United the lead against Everton.

Diogo Dalot's cross from the right wing floated into the Everton area straight to the Argentina international.

And the teenager produced a simply incredible overhead kick with a perfect connection which ended up nestling perfectly in the top corner, beyond the reach of a diving and outstretching Jordan Pickford despite the England number one's best efforts.

The strike has got us thinking about some of the best other overhead kicks in the history of the game.

So here, in no particular order, are 10 more of the best overhead kicks of all time.

Gareth Bale - Liverpool vs Real Madrid

In the 2018 Champions League final, the recently retired Gareth Bale came off the bench for Los Blancos to net a simply stunning overhead kick as the Spanish side beat Liverpool 3-1.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Juventus vs Real Madrid

Another Real Madrid goal this time, but for Cristiano Ronaldo as the Portuguese superstar netted a simply stunning effort in the Allianz Stadium against Juventus on the route to the 2018 Champions League final.

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United vs Manchester City

It might have come off his shin, but that arguably makes Wayne Rooney's overhead kick winner in the Manchester derby back in 2011 all the more impressive - an iconic goal which Garnacho's goal has obvious hallmarks with.

Peter Crouch - Liverpool vs Galatasaray

The tall striker scored a memorable goal at Anfield in 2006 when he netted a bicycle kick in the Champions League against Galatasaray after connecting with Steve Finnan's cross.

Benito Carbone - Newcastle vs Sheffield Wednesday

Back when Sheffield Wednesday were an established Premier League club, Benito Carbone produced a beauty at St James' Park in 1997 against Newcastle, controlling the ball, keeping it up, before burying to silence the Gallowgate End.

Dean Ashton - Manchester United vs West Ham United

Dean Ashton's promising career was cruelly cut short by injury, but his 2008 bicycle kick at the Stretford End for West Ham will go down as one of the best moments of his career.

Emre Can - Watford vs Liverpool

Emre Can produced a moment of magic for Liverpool at Vicarage Road against Watford in 2017, meeting Lucas Leiva's cross perfectly to dispatch a floated overhead kick into the top corner.

Marco van Basten - Ajax vs Den Bosch

One of the legends of the game netted a memorable effort for Ajax in 1986 against Den Bosch, going in off the post as one of the greats of all time showed how it is done.

Philippe Mexes - AC Milan vs Anderlecht

Defender Phillipe Mexes produced an incredible effort back in 2012 in the Champions League against Belgian side Anderlecht, floating in an effort which he strikes from the edge of the box, leaving the goalkeeper practically motionless.

What do you think? Is Garnacho's overhead kick the greatest of all time, or do others on this list beat it? Or are there others that deserve that title?
