A fourth clash between Poirier and McGregor could be on the cards following their blockbuster Las Vegas clash last summer.

The American defeated McGregor via doctor stoppage after the Irishman broke his leg at the end of the very first round of their lightweight bout.

'The Diamond' leads the 'Notorious' 2-1 following his victories at UFC 257 and UFC 264.

And it appears McGregor could have the chance to level their rivalry, with Poirier hinting at the UFC booking a fourth fight.

He also revealed that he hasn't heard from Dana White and Co in the last two months.

Asked if he was going to fight Nate Diaz, Poirier replied: "I don't know what's going on. I haven't heard anything from anyone in the last 2 months."

The 33-year-old continued by suggesting that the promotion are waiting for McGregor to heal ahead of a fourth fight later this year.

Asked if the UFC is waiting for McGregor to recover to match them up for a fourth time, he replied: "Probably so."

McGregor is on the mend and closing in on his UFC comeback, with White talking up a summer return.

Speaking in January, he said: "He's doing all the right things with his leg. I'm hoping he can come back this summer."

The former UFC double champion is on a two-fight losing skid, having lost back-to-back fights to Poirier.

He's called for an immediate title shot, eyeing the likes of UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and UFC welterweight king Kamaru Usman.

Oliveira, though, is scheduled to defend his title against Justin Gaethje while Usman appears set to face Leon Edwards.
