14% of people are willing to give up a Grand National bet to spend money on their partner

As the Grand National edges ever closer, a recent survey has found that only 14% of people would give up their bet for the big race to spend money on their partner.

On Saturday, 40 horses will line up as they battle around the famous Aintree course to be crowned the winner of the Randox Grand National.

As always, the three-day festival brings in a lot of people and with it, a lot of punters who will bet on their favourite horses.

In a recent survey conducted by OLBG, they have found that only 14% of people are willing to give up their Grand National bet to spend money on their partner.

88% of people said they would rather bet on the Grand National than spend money on streaming platforms such as Netflix.

The survey of 2061 people across Great Britain found that ‘More than one in ten (11%) view betting as entertainment like going out to the cinema’ and ‘only 14% say they would sacrifice their Grand National bet in order to buy a partner flowers or chocolates instead’.

In addition, the survey also found out that more than one in five Brits(22%) will be betting on Saturday’s big race. 26% of men are keen to place bets on the race whilst a huge 70% of women said they have no interest in betting.

In order to gain entry to Aintree, normal tickets for the big event cost £85, which only two per cent of those who took part in the survey said it was good value for money.

Ahead of the big race on Saturday, the current favourite is Ain’t That A Shame, who will be ridden by star jockey Rachael Blackmore. Whilst last year’s winner, Noble Yeats is also in with a shout to retain the title.
