How to have the BEST 72 hours in Brisbane during the NRL's Magic Round

The NRL's Magic Round is upon us and we can't bloody wait.

Yes, there's one action-packed weekend of footy featuring eight thrilling games – all in the same pumping city.

But that aside, Brisbane has got plenty of other stuff on offer for travelling rugby league fans to sink their teeth into.

To put it simply, if you're planning on staying the whole weekend instead of just one game, you're gonna have your hands full.

Here's how to have the BEST 48 hours in Brisbane during the NRL's Magic Round!

Visit the rooftop bars

Brisbane has a thriving bar scene, with many rooftop bars offering stunning views of the city's skyline, including Up on Constance, Elixir and Eleven.

If you're from interstate, you have to check out Felons. While this isn't exactly a rooftop bar, this waterfront area nestled right under the bridge is the perfect place to wet the palate while taking in the view.

Be sure to check out Fiume and Mr Percival's while you're there too too.

Abseiling on Kangaroo Point cliffs

Now, if you truly want top capture the best view of the city, the only way to do so is by abseiling off a cliff backwards and praying your instructor hasn't had an all-nighter in the Valley the day before.

Only joking, the instructors are world class professionals and make you feel totally at ease while you're bouncing down the cliff face.

It really is an amazing experience and perfect for any large group of travelling footy fans – expect half your chirpy mates to pull out at the last minute though.

Go for a hike

Brisbane has many beautiful nature reserves and parks nearby, including Tamborine National Park, and the Glass House Mountains.

If you want a perfect view of the entire city then Mount Coot-tha is your go-to spot.

Hiking or cycling up there is a fun way to see Brisbane's national parks, although make sure to bring plenty of liquids – even if it's a XXXX Gold.

Take a river cruise to the brewery's

Brisbane is renowned for its beautiful river.

It's even more renowned for its boozy boat tours to the trendy inner city brewery's.

Enjoy a lovely day out on the water before stopping at countless brewery's along the way – it's the perfect activity prior to heading to Suncorp Stadium to enjoy the footy.

Caxton Street

Right on Suncorp Stadium's doorstep, this is where you'll want to spend most of your weekend during Magic Round – that's if you're not actually at the games, of course.

From funky old school bars like Lefty's to Brisbane royalty like The Caxton itself, this strip will be absolutely rammed when the weekend finally rolls around.

If you're looking for a pumping sports atmosphere, then this is your place.

Explore the city's markets

If you're keen to take a short break from the footy then strolling around a lovely market is the perfect way to do so.

From farmers' markets to night markets, there are plenty of opportunities to discover local food, art, and crafts in the heart of Brisbane.

Check out The Valley

Fancy letting your hair down after a day at Magic Round, then this is your first (and probably last) stop.

Don't ask questions, just do it.

Visit Queensland Museum

Magic Round will be non-stop rugby league for three days straight – it's gonna be unreal.

But if you have a split second of spare time, it's well worth checking out arguably one of Australia's best museums.

Learn about the natural history and cultural heritage of Queensland at this fascinating place.

Go to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

I mean, come on.

Does it need any more explaining?
