Fans baffled after John Cena posts picture of Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella on his Instagram

Many were left a tad confused on Saturday afternoon, when John Cena posted a picture of Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella to his Instagram page with over 20 million followers.

The WWE superstar-turned-actor is renowned for posting random snaps to his social media accounts, with his most recent uploads including Britney Spears, a Trader Vic's extensive travel book and several Stone Cold memes.

But one of his most bizarre yet came on Saturday afternoon, shortly after Chelsea suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat in their Premier League encounter against Brentford.

Second-half goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo sealed all three points for Thomas Frank's side, who climbed to 14th with their second league win of the campaign.

It was, however, an afternoon to forget for Chelsea and their players, although Cena's latest Instagram post may have brought a smile to the face of defender Marc Cucurella.

So what does it mean? Well, the Instagram post comes just days after Cucurella said that he'd like the WWE legend to portray him in a movie, so we can only presume it has something to do with his suggestion.

Speaking on the Premier League's official YouTube channel, the Spaniard was asked a series of questions, ranging from 'which player would you most like to play with?' to 'who is the most famous person you know?'.

Cucurella was also asked which actor would like to be portrayed by in a movie and to surprise of some, he said John Cena.

"I've always liked his combats and his career in WWE," he explained.

Of course, Cena is renowned for his often out of context Instagram posts, but it appears he has an affinity with Chelsea after he posted a picture of Stamford Bridge in May last year.

That being said, he also revealed his admiration for London rivals Spurs following his brief visit White Hart Lane in 2008.

"Tottenham were playing the same night I had a WWE event in London, but I was able to go and see the stadium and I was lucky enough to actually walk on the pitch," he told BBC Sport.

"I really loved it because it was right in the heart of the city - it reminded me of an old baseball stadium with its nostalgia and tradition.

"I got to hear about the Spurs being the working man's team, I got to meet the coach and it was beautiful to see the bright green pitch amidst all the city concrete.

"So I was taken aback by the passion of the sport - although I never got to see them play."
