Fighter who competed at UFC 293 shares his payslip online to show how much they really earn, it's staggering

John Makdessi has shared his pay slip for his UFC 293 bout against Jamie Mullarkey and he's not happy.

Veteran lightweight Makdessi fought Mullarkey on the preliminary card of UFC 293 last weekend in Sydney.

He lost a close decision to the Australian fighter, who won the lightweight contest by unanimous decision - with all three judges scoring the bout 29-28.

It was the Canadian's 20th fight with Dana White's MMA promotion, but he walked away from Australia with a measly fight purse.

'The Bull' posted his UFC pay slip on social media, revealing he made a gross show purse of $58,000.00.

But he only took $28,461.65 after being taxed a whopping $26,100.00 - a 45 per cent foreign tax. The pay slip also shows 'medical', 'airfare' and 'others' deductions.

Taking to X, he wrote: "I sacrificed my whole life for this sport and put everything on the line. Damn Australian government and the judges robbed me pretty badly."

Makdessi has since deleted his post from X.

The 38-year-old has been with the MMA promotion since 2010, having made his debut against Pat Audinwood at UFC 124.

He's compiled a record of 11-9 in the UFC, facing the likes of Donald Cerrone, Anthony Njokuani and Yancy Medeiros. He boasts wins over Sam Stout, Abel Trujillo and Ross Pearson.

The defeat to Mullarkey marked his second UFC defeat in a row, having lost to Nasrat Haqparast last year.

It's unknown when Makdessi will return to action after suffering his second consecutive Octagon loss, but, one thing's for sure, he'll be hoping his next UFC assignment is not down under.

UFC 293, meanwhile, saw Sean Strickland dethrone Israel Adesanya of the UFC middleweight title.

Strickland dominated Adesanya as he won a lopsided decision to become the new 185lbs king.
