Everything that was projected onto the Las Vegas Sphere during F1 Grand Prix weekend

The Las Vegas Sphere had its fair share of attention during the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend.

Over the weekend, F1 returned to Las Vegas for the first time in over 40 years and the event did not disappoint.

After a spectacular opening ceremony, the race itself was one of the best of the season despite some early hiccups.

Reigning F1 world champion Max Verstappen cruised to victory ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.

Although the F1 was the main event of the weekend, one of Las Vegas’s newest attractions, the Sphere, also caught a lot of attention.

The Las Vegas Sphere was opened in September and it has 580,000 sq ft (54,000 m2) of LED displays on the exterior.

After the race weekend, one user on social media uploaded a thread of everything that was projected onto the Sphere.

Things that were projected onto the Sphere include a range of different emojis, the Las Vegas sign, characters such as Sponge Bob and Squid Game’s Young-hee, as well as logos of F1 partners such as Google Chrome, Heineken, American Express and Pirelli.

During the race, the Sphere had different colours projected onto it depending on the situation.

For example, if yellow flags were waved, the Sphere would turn yellow.

At the end of the race, the Sphere was turned into a giant checkered flag.

Multiple drivers such as Verstappen, Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon also made an appearance on the Sphere during the weekend.

Perhaps the coolest part of the Sphere during the Grand Prix weekend was the fact that it showed different cameras during the race, including onboard footage of different drivers. You can watch the footage below.

Despite the negativity heading into the Las Vegas Grand Prix, seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton said the event proved doubters wrong.

He said: “For all those who said it was all about the show, Vegas proved them wrong.

“The race was great, it was one of the best races. There have been so many people who have been negative about the show and all that – but just let it be, see how it goes and it was huge.”

The 2023 F1 season will come to an end after this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with the race taking place at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday.
