Lewis Hamilton social media activity has people questioning his future as he drops hint about life after F1

Lewis Hamilton seems to have dropped hints about his future in Formula One, after Mercedes troubles continued at the Miami Grand Prix.

It's not really been a good couple of years for Hamilton, since losing out on the 2021 world championship on the final lap of the season to Max Verstappen.

Last year was the first that the seven time world champion didn't win a race and he doesn't look like winning another one this year either.

At Miami last weekend, the 38-year-old did well to finish sixth, as Verstappen disappeared up the road, destroying everyone not in a Red Bull, to the soundtrack of boos from the crowd.

The former McLaren driver could even lose the first world title of his career, which he won with his first team, as Felipe Massa wants to contest it.

In fact, everything happening to Hamilton rather suggests that longtime rival Fernando Alonso isn't 100% correct when he says his nemesis has been 'lucky.'

All of it has led to suggestions that the British racer will decide to call it quits once his contract at Merc comes to and end once the season is over.

Hamilton posted some fan art of himself and a younger version of him on social media, and some believed it was a hint that he's going to retire.

And speaking last week, ahead of the Grand Prix, Hamilton even suggested that he could be interested in a swap in motorsport.

The Mercedes number one said he'd be interested in NASCAR, Indy racing or even Moto GP, saying, "I did a car swap with Tony Stewart years ago, which was fun. I'd love to try it [NASCAR] at some stage.

"It's not a dream for me to go race another series, but I am an admirer.

"I'm a fan of racing and other sports. So I would like to try it. I'd love to swap with Valentino Rossi and try Moto GP.

"I sometimes watch IndyCar and would love to try one of those at some stage."

So far, he, and team principal Toto Wolff, have been pretty confident that his future lies with Mercedes beyond this season but stranger things have happened, and he has previously revealed he considered quitting the sport.
