New footage of Lionel Messi and Rodrygo incident shows exactly what was said, it was brutal

New footage of the incident between Lionel Messi and Rodrygo shows exactly what was said during their heated argument.

A series of flashpoints occurred during Wednesday's intense World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina.

The world champions ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Nicolas Otamendi's header in the second-half.

But the game was marred by incidents on and off the pitch.

Kick-off was delayed as fans clashed with local police, with Emiliano Martinez trying to stop the violence in the stands.

On the pitch, Brazil were reduced to 10 men when Joelinton was controversially red carded following his tangle with Rodrigo De Paul.

After the result, Barcelona legend Messi exchanged words with Real Madrid starlet Rodrygo, who aimed a coward jibe at his counterpart.

That didn't go down well with the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner as he confronted the 22-year-old.

He said: "You are a kid, you have to look at your mouth. Who are cowards?"

Rodrygo fired back: "Look at the game, you'll see us there. We are coming, come on.

"You are a coward, you are a coward."

But their confrontation began on the pitch as Rodrygo said: "Why are you going to kick me. No Leo, that no.

"You are a pain in the ass because you only want to talk. No Leo, no."

To which the 36-year-old replied: "Look at your mouth kid, shut up. Look at your mouth and wake up little kid."

Marquinhos, who played with Messi at Paris Saint-Germain, tried to defuse the situation.

However, the Inter Miami superstar continued his verbal onslaught, saying: "We are the world champions. Cowards of what?"

"I'm asking you, come on say it. Come on."

Referencing Argentina's Copa America victory over Brazil at the Maracana, he added: "I became champion here."

The conversation shows the other side of Messi, who rarely gets involved in confrontations.
