Dana White Eyeing Up Exciting ‘Headline’ Return For Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor is set for another return to the Octagon as a "headliner", according UFC chief Dana White.

McGregor broke his leg at UFC 264 in the trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, which was the American's second win over the Irishman in 2021 after also knocking him out in January.

'The Notorious' has headlined for each of his last 10 fights and is set to do so again, with White still ranking him as "one of the top 10 guys in the world."

It has been a tricky time in the 33-year-old's career, with his last win at his weight class being back in November 2016. But he is still ranked at number 9 in the Lightweight rankings.

"It would depend on who he's fighting but yeah, Conor [McGregor] coming back is a headliner," White told Pardon My Take in quotes published by The Mirror.

It remains to be seen when McGregor will return to the Octagon and White explained in September that it all depends on how quickly his leg heals.

White told the Jim Rome Show in quotes published by The Independent: "This kid needs to heal up. I don't know how fast that leg is going to recover.

"It's basically going to be all about when can he start kicking again and, more importantly, when can he start taking kicks again. That will determine when he fights again."

McGregor is eager to return as soon as possible, and while he hopes to fight in UFC again next year, another fight is yet to be confirmed.

"I feel like I could kick right now," McGregor added in quotes published by The Independent. "I honestly feel like I could kick right now, but I've just got to listen to the doctors, listen to the people that are guiding me.

"That's what I've done so far, I've committed myself to the work and I'm back on the feet. It's so good to be back on the feet."
