Tyson Fury's Son Tells Dad He Wants To Be "Like Deontay Wilder" When He Grows Up

Who'd have thought it? Tyson Fury's six-year-old son Adonis wants to be like former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder when he grows up. Here's the footage of his hilarious revelation below:

It will go down as one of the best heavyweight rivalries in boxing history.

In total, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder went to battle three times. They first met in December 2018 – the third fight in Fury's return to action after two and a half years out.

A rematch then took place in February 2020, where Fury came out on top after a controversial draw in the first. And on October 9, 2021, the 'Gypsy King' retained his WBC world heavyweight crown by defeating Wilder in an instant classic.

After being dropped twice in the fourth round, the inevitable Fury stopped Wilder with a devastating right hand in the 11th round.

In the aftermath of his victory, the 33-year-old Brit went over to Wilder's corner to shake his hand but The Bronze Bomber appeared to snub his advances – a decision that was criticised by many fans.

But despite the bad blood between the pair in recent years, Fury's son, Adonis, wants to be like Wilder when he grows up.

In a video posted on Tyson's Instagram page, the heavyweight champion asks his son what he wants to be when he grows up. He answers: "A boxer."

Then, Fury asks what boxer he wants to be like. "Deontay Wilder!", Adonis says, before Tyson replies: "No way... he's a dosser!"

Several days after the handshake snub, Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel claimed the American would now have a different approach to the post-fight meeting.

He also said Wilder's mind "wasn't really there" immediately after the contest.

"Him and I have spoke about that and he does [respect Fury],' Finkel told The Sun. "I think his mind wasn't really there, I think if Deontay saw Fury now he would give him a big embrace."

Last year, Tyson Fury claimed that he downed a couple of pints before stepping out to take on Deontay Wilder in their first bout.

"It relaxes you when you're in training camp," Fury told JOE. "It teaches you not to be so strict, it teaches you to relax and enjoy and that's what it's about.

"Back in the past, men used to fight 20 or 30 rounds. They'd have a bottle of brandy before they went out there and had a fight. No one can tell me, not one nutritionist or conditioner and all this new science stuff today... men back in the day didn't have food to eat for three or four days and then fought 25 rounds. Today, we're a little bit softer than we were years ago."

Fury then opened up about his preparations ahead of his first ever bout against Wilder. "I've got that old school mentality," he added. "Before Wilder 1, I went downstairs and had two pints because I felt like it. Didn't do me any harm did it?"
