Judy Murray calls out US Open for releasing Aryna Sabalenka's private moment to the public

Judy Murray has called out the US Open after footage of Aryna Sabalenka was published to social media following her women's singles final loss to Coco Gauff.

Sabalenka was defeated 6-2, 3-6, 2-6 by Gauff, with the 19-year-old winning her first major final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Sabalenka took the first set, but her second and third sets were punctuated by unforced errors, and she looked in visible discomfort towards the match's conclusion before calling for a medical timeout.

A small silver lining for the 25-year-old was that she rose up the rankings to world number one for the first time in her career, with previous holder Iga Swiatek losing in the fourth round.

But the defeat, naturally, still meant a great deal to Sabalenka, who took out her disappointment on her racquet after leaving the court in one of the training rooms.

However, the moment was captured by off-court cameras placed at the venue and uploaded by Eurosport - one of the main rights holders for the tournament alongside Sky Sports.

It was unclear whether Sabalenka knew the cameras were present, and Murray expressed her disappointment at the moment being made public.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "This footage should never have been made public. A private moment in an empty training room after the disappointment of losing a Grand Slam final."

Speaking after the final, meanwhile, an emotional Sabalenka joked that she would 'fire' her team after the defeat, before congratulating Gauff on her maiden major victory.

She added: "I just want to send a lot of love to my family, they will be awake and watching. Sorry for this result.

"Thank you, guys. They [the team] know they will be fired after this tournament. As always, we will come back stronger. Thank you for everything you do for me."
